Treasure Island is an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, narrating a tale of "buccaneers and buried gold". First published as a book in 1883, it was originally serialised in the children's magazine Young Folks between 1881-82 under the title The Sea Cook, or Treasure Island. It is one of the most frequently dramatised of all novels, and its influence on popular lore about pirates can not be overestimated. (Download ebook)

Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616) was a Spanish novelist, playwright, and poet, the creator of Don Quixote, the most famous figure in Spanish literature. Although Cervantes' reputation rests almost entirely on his portrait of Don Quixote, his literary production was considerable. Cervantes' idea was to give a picture of real life and manners and to express himself in clear language. The reading public acclaimed the intrusion of everyday speech into a literary context. Although it did not make Cervantes rich, it brought him international appreciation as a man of letters.
